Preparation

PBTC can be obtained by reaction between maleic anhydride, methanol, and phosphorus trichloride.

Application

PBTC is used as scale inhibitor, deflocculant, sequestrant, and water stabilizer in boiler, pipeline, and detergent etc. Under condition of high temperature, high pH value and high hardness, PBTC performs very well. Dosage is usually 5 to 15 mg/L, normally applied with other phosphonates, polymers. Working pH is 7.0 to 9.5
